Fun Fishing Trip With Friends out of the Huron River

The weather had warmed to 50 degrees F in the Lake Erie region; the skies were mostly sunny with occasional cloud cover. We set an easterly course out of the Huron river in Huron, OH looking for active walleye to target with forward facing imaging. Upon arriving at our destination the water quality was quite good I must say. Fish were actively made on the fish finder so we set up with Rapala Rip N Raps, jigging rapalas, and lead heads with twister tails. Unfortunately the Lake Erie walleyes did not want to cooperate. After some time had passed we decided to give it a go at trolling shallow diving crankbaits with assisted weights at low speeds deep in the water column and boy were we rewarded as walleye after walleye came to the back of the boat and into the net!! The grade of walleyes was just as I expected for the time of year with around a 5lb average. In short order 18 walleyes were boated and we were headed back to the river with a 3 man boat limit!!
